Maryam Ward (Nephrology and Endocrinology)

Pediatric Nephrology: This ward was established and directed by Dr. Ahmad Mashouf. After his travel abroad in 1990, Dr. Hassan Otokesh was appointed as the head of this ward. With joining two subspecialty pediatric nephrologist, Dr. Nakisa Hooman from 2001 and Dr. Azar Nikavar from 2004, patients with kidney disease across Iran are referred to the Pediatric Nephrology Ward. The dialysis ward was launched in 2016. In addition to hemodialysis, with the efforts of Dr. Hooman, the dialysis ward is a pioneer in pediatric peritoneal dialysis and serves a center for training peritoneal dialysis nurses across Iran.

Pediatric Endocrinology: This ward was established in 1992 by Dr. Maryam Razzaghi Azar, a pediatric endocrinologist. Dr. Farzaneh Rouhani and Dr. Amir Ahmad Mirbolok joined this ward respectively in 1999 and 2002. This is one of the well-known pediatric endocrinology wards in Iran and patients across Iran are referred to this ward. The research papers by faculty of this ward have been published in national and international journals and its fellowships have often ranked first in Iran.
Given the active presence of endocrinology and metabolism pediatricians, patients with phenylketonuria (PKU) are referred to this center. The comprehensive PKU clinic is serving patients on Tuesdays on a regular basis. The PKU team consists of social workers, nutritionists, psychologists, and endocrinology and metabolism pediatricians. Patients with hypothyroidism are also referred to this center.
