 | Post date: 2019/07/29 |
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Ward in Iran University of Medical Sciences was established in 1993 in Iran Psychiatric Hospital with the presence of professors in this field (Dr. Mehrdad Mohammadian and Dr. Behrooz Jalili). In 2008, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic was transferred to Ali-Asghar (AS) Children’s Hospital. Due to some organizational problems, the activity of this ward was stopped for more than a year in 2013. After construction of the new ward in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s mental health standards, it started again its activity in March 2015. With pediatric psychiatrists and nurses, this is the only pediatric psychiatric ward in a subspecialty pediatric hospital and provides patients with ideal and standard treatment facilities.
This ward has 6 inpatient beds and a time-out room which is used for aggressive and provocative patients. There are also two psychologists and a rehabilitation team (occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.) in the hospital.
The game room is another feature of this ward. At specified times and with nurse coordination, children can play on the playing field of the hospital with their companion. The ward also provides non-pharmaceutical treatments including social skills training and cognitive behavioral therapy and parenting skills and work with patients with autism.

Faculty members: Dr. Mitra Hakim Shooshtari (Head), Dr. Elham Shirazi, Dr. Behrooz Jalili-Farshi
